About This Scheme

Bluesky Certification’s UKAS accredited Enhanced Security (PAS24) Window scheme is designed to provide manufacturers of external door sets the means to demonstrate that their products meet the latest PAS24 standard (plus the relevant material-specific durability standards). This is done through initial type testing of the window design, implementation and monitoring of the FPC, with regular FPC audits and audit tests to verify the ongoing performance of the product. 
The scheme is designed to meet the requirements for Secured By Design, and allows manufacturers to demonstrate compliance to Approved Document Q of the Building Regulations.

Bluesky’s Enhanced Security window scheme applies to the security performance of external windows manufactured from one of the following materials:
  • Aluminium
  • Aluminium / timber composite
  • PVC-u
  • Timber
  • Steel.
 

Initial requirements:

Initial Type Test evidence
To apply for the scheme, customers must supply the following full Initial Type Test evidence for the following standards for each product design to be considered:
  • PAS24 - Enhanced Security performance characteristics for windows in the UK
  • BS 6375-1 – Air tightness and water leakage 
  • BS 6375-2 – Operational forces and mechanical strength
  • BS 6375-3 – Additional performance characteristics (parts that are relevant for the end use application for the product including the cycling test).
 
Initial factory audit
An initial audit will be required for each factory to be covered by the scheme to Factory Production Control requirements are met.

Surveillance requirements:

Audit visit requirements
Once certified, surveillance visits for each factory will be conducted annually for members with UKAS accredited ISO9001 certification, or six-monthly surveillance visits for each factory that does not have UKAS accredited ISO09001 certification.

Ongoing audit test requirements
The following audit tests are required for members of the Enhanced Security Window scheme:
  • PAS24 - Enhanced Security – annually
  • BS 6375-1 – Air tightness and water leakage – every 3 years
  • BS 6375-2 – Operational forces and mechanical strength – every 3 years.
