This UKAS accredited scheme is designed to provide companies carrying out condition surveys or inspections of fire resistant doorsets with the means to demonstrate that their standard of inspection will be appropriate. This includes verification that the inspector has been suitably trained, followed by an audit of inspections conducted at their customer sites, to verify the standard of inspection process carried out by the inspector and the operatives under their control. Ongoing audits are then conducted once certification has been achieved. Inspection audits may be undertaken on either completed inspections, or those that are taking place.
The scheme applies to the inspection of fire resistant doorsets manufactured from timber, PVCu or composite materials. It does not apply to fire resistant door sets that are made entirely from steel.
This UKAS accredited scheme (which is operated in accordance with ISO/IEC 17065) allows us to provide certification for companies that provide inspection services for fire doors. It should not be confused with companies that accredited directly by UKAS for providing inspection services themselves.
This is the first fire door inspection scheme to achieve accreditation with UKAS which we believe demonstrates the credibility of the scheme. When looking for certification for fire door inspection, we would strongly recommend insisting on a UKAS accredited scheme.
Expectations for the audit visit:
For the Fire Door Inspection scheme customers are required to have completed inspections on several doorsets and documented the inspections prior to Bluesky auditors arriving on-site for us to then review customer findings. We will require a copy of the final inspection report to complete this audit. Evidence of any relevant documentation must be available where appropriate.
