About This Scheme
Bluesky’s Acoustic Door and Window scheme is designed to provide manufacturers of noise reducing windows and door sets the means to demonstrate that their products meet the relevant British Standards for acoustic performance characteristics. This is done through initial type testing of the window or doorset design, implementation and monitoring of the FPC, with annual FPC audits and audit tests to verify the ongoing performance of the product.
The scheme applies to the acoustic performance and general durability characteristics of windows and door sets manufactured from one of the following materials:
- Aluminium
- Aluminium / timber composite
- PVC-u
- Timber
- Steel.
Initial requirements
Initial Type Test evidence:
For each product to be certified, the manufacturer shall supply test evidence to BS EN ISO 10140-2. The product must achieve the rating which is being claimed through a test, rather than an assessment.

Initial & surveillance factory audits:
An initial audit will be required for each factory to be covered by the scheme, followed by annual surveillance visits for each factory.

Additional surveillance requirements
A BS EN ISO 10140-2 audit test will be required every 3 years.
Terms & Conditions
An acoustic audit test is required every 3 years. If the initial type testing that is provided is more than 3 years old or was conducted on another party's product, the first audit test will be required within 18 months of joining the scheme. The cost of this audit testing is not included in the above fees.
